About Me
Psychological Therapy
I am a Practitioner Psychologist, registered with the HCPC. I adopt a formulation led approach to help you to understand your difficulties, to support you to become your own therapist over time. Perhaps you have tried therapy before and have not had a good experience. Maybe you have a diagnosis, such as ADHD or Autism and think that typical approaches do not work well for you. I have over 20 years experience of working in a variety of settings, including forensic, learning disability and NHS psychological therapy services and one of my strengths is my ability to tailor approaches to the person in front of me. I work collaboratively to identify what each person needs, their goals and their preferences. I have experience of working with complexity and often multiple presenting difficulties at the same time. I draw upon a range of therapeutic modalities, including EMDR, CBT and Schema Therapy, which I have attended accredited training for.
Forensic Psychological Assessment/Treatment
As a Forensic Psychologist, I have extensive experience of forensic risk assessment (RSVP v2, SARA v2, HCR-20 v3, SAM), with expertise in sexual offending and intimate partner violence. I am also experienced in assessments for the criminal and family court. This often includes assessment of risk within a family setting, where there may not be clarity about risk due to no convicted offending. I can assess capacity to protect children from potential risk posed within a family dynamic. I can also offer tailored offence focused intervention, for example, addressing identified treatment needs, or work to address areas of concern as identified in risk assessment or multi-agency involvement. I have extensive experience of delivery and supervision of both individual and group interventions within the prison service.
